Canvas Layout

I have been meeting with some other ladies weekly to do some creative projects at Erlinda's house. This week Erlinda found a Canvas work of art that she liked so much, that she shared the pictures with me. So we both decided to see if we can copy it with our own flare added to them. The canvas is approximately 11x14. I added a base card stock to hide the canvas. I also used the beautiful black designer paper that I got out of Erlinda's paper stack. We did cut the letters with the Storybook Cricut Cartridge. I printed on the computer the verse on the bottom left, onto vellum. I added 1/2" solid black ribbon across the whole canvas and added some trinkets to it. I did add some red Stickles the the center of the circles on the black card stock. It gives it a subtle look of color to the paper. I cut the tags from Tags Bags Boxes and More cartridge. I think I cut them at 5" tall. They have to be big enough to hold a wallet size picture. I also inked all of the light card stock with Tim Holtz distressing ink. The pictures on the left side had a very white background, so I used the same distressing ink and inked the background so it wouldn't stand out so much.  I added black with white polka dot ribbon on the tag. I also added photo corners with Stampin Up's Photo corner punch, it softened the look of the picture a bit. The picture tags are actually sitting in a pocket, which is really cool. You can add more pictures as you collect them. I think this was a great project to do. I started this Yesterday and finished it this evening. I think it took me a total of 5 hours to complete.

Valentine's Creations

I attended a Valentine Workshop at my friend Erlinda's house, earlier this month. I had a great time learning new tricks that I can use on my own crafts. This Valentine Bag/Purse was a door prize that I won. It was filled with Chocolate nuggets. Love this prize.

This is the beautiful card box that was made by Erlinda for all the women who attended her workshop. Just love it.

It's the perfect size to hold the cards that we made that evening.

We made 4 cards and a nugget holder. They are so cute and very impressive. I would give a list of supplies we used but honestly I don't remember them all.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Cupcake Birthday cards

I made this cute cupcake card for a couple of my friends who had birthdays this month.   I used the Sweettreats cartridge to cut the cupcake. I used a little bit of Stickles to add some sparkle to the wrapper. I also used white puffy glitter paint for the white dot on the cherry. I also matted the cupcake with a piece of white cardstock, that I embossed with Devine Swirls embossing folder by Cuttlebug.

Scallop Circle Flower

 Hello there everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday. I am sure looking forward to this week-end. I plan on getting some crafting done. Today's project was inspired by a good friend Erlinda. She put a post up on her blog, on how to make your own beautiful flowers.  To start, get some scrap paper that you would like to use. Now you can either use a scallop punch from Stampin Up or you can cut the scallop circles using your Cricut Expression. Either way it will have the same results. I used both for my flowers. You will need 3 scallop circles for 1 flower.

I tried the pattern paper scrap, just to see how the flower will come out. Then you will need to run them thru a paper crimper, about 12+ times, to loosen the fibers enough to pull the layers apart.

Once you have the 3 circles crimped and pulled apart, you will need to crumple them some more. I just rolled them up in a ball.

Once you have rolled them, you will need to open them up and stack them together inside side up. I alternated with the soft side and the patterned side, just to see what it would look like.

Now, with a paper piercer you will need to pierce a hole in the middle of your stack.

Don't remove the piercer until you have a brad ready to put in its place. Any brad will do, you will barely see the brad when the flower is complete.

From this point you will need to start bunching up the layers individually.

Once they are all bunched up, just lightly fan them out, This will be a matter of preference. If you want a tight flower don't fan it out to much, but if you like it loose, then fan it out more. Play with it until you find the way you like your flower to look like.

I did take it one step further and added a little touch of Stickles on the edges randomly.

On the black flower, I did use some glimmer mist, just to see how it would look like.

It gives it a little shimmer finish.
 Check out Erlinda's blog, she did a beautiful layout using the flowers she made. This is a great way to use up any scraps that you may have accumulated. I know I have tons of scraps. Another great idea is to make 2 of the same flower and get a craft stick and sandwich them together to make a carnation. This would be a great gift for Mothers Day, Flowers made with love. I just thought of that, as I was typing.

2 Page Layout Valley of Fire

My family loves to spend as much time as we can camping. This is from one of our trips to the Valley of Fire 2008. I am a little behind, but I am trying to keep my New Years Resolution, of doing a scrapbook page a week. Well this is week 3's layout. The tarantulas that you see on the left side of the layout were out on an afternoon stroll. We were walking with them, and I decided to take a picture of them. I had to get really close and that was very creepy for me. One of the spiders stood up on its hind legs as I was done taking pictures. That freaked me out a little bit, OK A LOT. lol  The picture on the top left was one of my favorites other than the ones of my children. It looks so much like a dog, do you see it? I didn't do to much Cricut cutting, I did use the Gypsy font and cut out "hiking the valley" at 1 1/2". I am hoping that this year we will be able to go camping more. I miss being in nature and having quality time with my family.

Car Vinyl Decal

 Well hello everyone. I hope you all had a great week-end. I sure did, I spent time with my husband and kids, I also got to get some mommy craft time on Friday. It's all good here. I wanted to do a  layout but the time just flew on by way too fast. But I did manage to cut out a vinyl decal for our car. I had designed this a few months ago, but I finally cut it today. This was originally going to be a design for a t-shirt, to show our support for our 2 kids karate lessons. I still might make the shirts anyways. But that will be at a later time.

 I used the Sports Mania Cricut Cartridge, Expression, and My lovely Gypsy. Simply white outdoor vinyl that I purchased off of Marilyn on an auction site. Tell me what you think. I hope you like it. I hope everyone has a great week. 

Spring/Easter Swap

This is my first swap that I am participating in. The theme is Spring/Easter. You have to make 15 of the same cut, but it must be cut with a Cricut. this is what I decided to do for my swap. I cut the work Spring out the Easter 2010 seasonal cartridge and added a shadow. Then I used the opaque Uniden pen to add a little touch to it. Then I also added the soring time mix of Flower Soft to the flower.

I hope the people in the swap like it. I can't wait to get the other creative cuts from the other participants.

Cricut Divas January Layout

Every month the Cricut Diva's meet, and this month our Host was Jennifer Pereda. She is the owner of the Crafting Place. She designed this wonderful layout. She holds monthly classes there, for more info call 702-845-2536. This is my version of her design. The difference is very subtle, but it has my little twist on it. I added bling on the swirls and around the scalloped circle frame. I also used glitter paper for my snow flakes and for the Winter part of the title. Here are some other variations of her layout.

Sewing Wall Hanging

Well I think this might be my last wall hanging I will make for a while. I made this for my mother, for her sewing room. She likes purple so I used purple for the primary color. I cut the chipboard and all the other items on it with my Cricut Expression. I used Country Life cartridge for the sewing machine and the quilt block. I used Storybook for the foundation. I like the way it came out. I used some left over chains from Michaels.  I hope you like it. Please leave your comments, I would like to hear what you got to say. Have a great Afternoon.

You Rock Wall Hanging

Well I am certainly impressed, that I was able to complete a project 2 days in row. My Aunt Lorraine in   
El Paso,TX really liked the wall hanging I made for Corrina. She also told me she would like to have 1 for my Cousin Victoria, so I got to thinking about how I can make one for her. This is what I came up with. Vicki I hope you like it. It's going in the mail tomorrow , so keep an eye out for it.

I used 2 top note chip boards and covered it with a purple print card stock with Zig 2 way glue. I used the Rock Princess Cricut Cartridge for all the die cutting . I added some bling to the letters because I think all girls like a little bling here and there. I did ink the edges for a little distressed look with Tim Holtz distressing ink. I also added a little bit of Stickles here and there. 

Wall Hanging

Well this is my very first Chipboard project. I bought a Chipboard book at Michael's for a whole whopping .50 cents. I covered it with a Princess paper pack. Anyways I also used the Zig 2way clue to adhere the card stock to the chipboard. I trimmed it with my craft knife and filed the edges to make it smooth. I also punched extra hole so I can add the links to hold it together. The chain, I purchased at Michael's on clearance for $2.00. I also used some flowers with glitter on them. I got those at a scrapbook Expo last year. I finally got to use them. LOL. Then I cut Always Kiss Me Good Night on Shimmer paper from ARC. I used 4 different cartridges to cut the phrases out with my expression, but right now I just can't remember which cartridges I used. Sorry guys.
